ALL THE WAY INN

A dated vine-covered wood and stone two-story building. Lodging is primarily on the second floor while the ground floor is primarily for the restaurant and tavern portion of the business. It has tables out front that are decorated with various plants and ale pitchers. The windows of the establishment are opened to show the floral, decorated inside as well.

No matter the season, everything seems to be consistently thriving... which can be attributed to the gifts over nature that Demora has lent the owner now that their bond is stronger. It definitely stands out amongst the more mundane buildings but not obnoxiously so.

It is primarily used by traveling merchants from neighboring city-states, but more and more people have begun adding Town to their route for this locale. It promises seasonally-themed delights, live entertainment, and the owner is mentioned to be extremely hospitable and friendly.

Rosie does have her hand in almost every aspect of the business but is always open to taking on more help.

She usually wears make-up but just enough to hide any hints of exhaustion from how little she actually sleeps, even for her kind.

History: Born a 'defective' yokai, Rosie has felt displaced her entire life. She was rejected by her pack and left to become a lone wolf from a very young age. Years of this isolation and alienation from her own kind (though she'd rather use the term 'independence') has made her a bit reluctant to rely on anyone besides herself.

She took a shady deal to enter the world of humans she'd felt a closer kinship with since she could remember. It led to her enslavement in a fighting ring for otherworldly creatures like her. They would battle to the death for entertainment and profit. Her previously gained self-preservation instincts served her well there. When slated for a breeding program to further the lineage of 'champions,' she and a friend plotted their escape. He didn't make it but ensured that she did.

But he also promised her safety, security, and things she'd never thought possible so she keeps finding reasons to stay.

She's become a songbird in a gilded cage, trapped again just with nicer window dressings. And when that cage was bust open by her boss' enemies, she believes herself to have met her end... until she woke up here.

Personality answers:

Your character must live with only one sense for a year. They are allowed to choose. What do they pick? Why? How do they cope?
Rosie would pick her sense of hearing. While her seeing and smelling are enhanced so it'd be a definite adjustment, she couldn't imagine trying to navigate without being able to hear the world around her. Being able to find the natural music and rhythm in life is one of her only joys; if that was taken away, she'd be at a loss for how to move forward.

Being unable to contribute to it anymore would also be difficult but she'd persevere knowing it was only for one year. As shown by her life thus far, the woman is adaptable and resilient. She'd be able to overcome the obstacle of only having one sense to work with temporarily. In the end, she'd also think she had a great story to tell from it. Life is all about the experiences, after all!

What does your character think about physical appearances? Are they the sort to meticulously primp themselves, or could they not care less?
For the last few years, Rosie has basically had her self-worth tethered to her appearance. While she wasn't always so focused on looks, the position that she's been in and having to appeal to people constantly skewed her views quite dramatically and swiftly. These days, one of the only things that seems to matter is how attractive - and by extension, how fuckable - she is to other people.

Due to that, she cares a lot about appearances. She cares... probably too much about appearances! At least, for herself. While she doesn't judge anyone else, she can become anxious if she thinks she looks unattractive in any sense of the word. She is meticulous about her make-up, hair, and tries to find clothes that accentuate her well; however, this can vary depending on the person she's trying to appeal to and their tastes. Her style is ever-changing and eclectic from the outside, but the pattern becomes obvious after a while that she's trying to appeal to as many people as she can individually and will follow whatever they seem to like best.

What is your character most afraid of?
Her common fears are quite mundane. She doesn't like spiders and is afraid of heights. If asked what she's most afraid of, something like that wwould probably be the superficial answer she'd give to avoid the vulnerability of the truth. After all, that's what Rosie fears most: someone seeing her as the monster she actually is.

Although she tries to go against her demonic nature as a yokai at every opportunity, there are parts of her past that paint her as the very 'demon' many people are immediately afraid of and detest. So, she is most afraid of someone seeing all of her - the good, the bad, and the hideous - and being disgusted by it no matter how hard she tries to do the right thing. She did what she had to in order to survive, but suffers from survivor's guilt and wondering what made her life more important than theirs. She's so scared that the reality is: nothing, and she was just lucky.

What would your character say is their best trait? What is truly their best trait?
For a non-serious answer: her tits. Because, like, come on. Have you seen these things? They're remarkable. For a slightly more serious answer: her voice. It's one of the few things about her that she knows is attractive but inherently so. Even if she was ugly, she could still sing beautifully. A life as a siren wouldn't be so bad, she'd say, luring people in with her gorgeous songs but being a harpy in reality. They seem to be doing pretty well for themselves!

For the actual answer: her kindness and compassion. After everything Rosie has been through, she is quick to empathize and give people more chances than maybe they should. After all, she got her chances due to the kindness of others. Why shouldn't she pay that forward where she can? And while her well-meaning can also be a drawback, she'd never want to be someone that didn't give a person the chance to change.

Option 2:

Dead - All her life, Rosie has been marked by and seemingly followed by the dead. It started with her mother dying when she was young. Then, it was someone sacrificing themselves to save her and ensure that she lived. After that, it was someone ending up caught in the crosshair meant for her head. She started to believe that a proximity to her was just a death sentence for those unaware.

Her final moments back home indicated though that it was finally, truly her time to meet death herself; yet, she awoke to something else entirely. While she isn't foolish enough to think that she can truly escape Death, she is going to enjoy this borrowed time while she's able to. Yet, the knowledge that she is technically among the dead will grip her tightly and prevent her from truly trying to live before long.

Dance - One of the few things that always made sense to Rosie has been music. No matter where she goes or what she's going through, there is a song to be found with it. Some of her earliest memories are of her mother singing her to sleep. In tune with that (pun intended) is the art of dance. Despite the differences between people around the globe, almost every cultural group has a way of expressing themselves through dance. It's one of the many, many things the woman finds to be beautiful about humanity.

People come together often through and with dance. It's an intimate connection to share with another person. Someone's preferred style can say a lot about them, too! Rosie's own favorite dance is Swing, which is usually aligned with very fast and upbeat music as well as using one's strength to pull off impressive stunts. However, she also enjoys the slower and more concentrated pace that comes with certain ballroom dances. There tends to be a dance, like a song, for almost any occasion and it can be a great way to connect.

Pride - Yōkai by and large tend to be a prideful species. Rosie, as in most ways, tries to be the exception to this when it comes to her kind. While her pride over some things can get in her way now and again, she isn't proud of what she is nor does she truly consider herself better than anyone else for her heritage. Being a demon isn't a basis for looking down on others and especially not humans to her.

Yet, she is vain and that's still a form of pride. Her looks and sex appeal are one of the only things she was led to believe made her worth anything; so, naturally, she tends to be very prideful about them and do her best to be attractive and what people want most. Outside of that though, there aren't many things that Rosie tends to be proud of in her life. Even the things she should be, like her musical abilities, can be downplayed and dismissed as average or not really that great.

Sin - No one is without the guilt and regret of sinning. Some sings are lesser than others, but Rosie has committed some of the worst of them all. Most might argue the sinful things she's most ashamed of were due to her hand being forced, but there is more to it than that. Isn't there always?

Gluttony, for example, is what drives her hedonistic tendencies. After being denied in so many ways throughout of her life, she seizes every opportunity she can to indulge and feel as good as possible. Lust ties into this nicely with her more primal, baser instincts needing to be fed more often than most. Whether due to her work or simple enjoyment (or both), it can be hard for even her to say.

The sin she knows herself to be capable of and fears most though is wrath. Her anger tends to be deadly and so she does her best to hide behind unassuming smiles and not let much get under her skin. When her emotions do boil over though, her wrath is a force to be reckoned with and can leave quite a mess in its wake.

Child - A child in her culture tends to be named for the hopes that their parents have for them. Unfortunately for Rosie, she was none of what her parents hoped for. She only disappointed them... or so she was led to believe. At the age equivalent to ten for mortals, she was outcast and left to fend for herself. She never had the chance to truly be a child of her own as a result.

That may be why now she tries to make up for it. Although she isn't always childish and immature, she tends to indulge in whimsy and fun more than most. People shouldn't be so serious, she thinks. Why not have fun instead? This can make it seem like she's flippant or dismissive but she doesn't mean to be. Rather, she just wants to enjoy life as a child would: unrestrained, free, and full of wonderment rather than taking things too seriously.

Flower - Flowers are a language that Rosie has spoken since she can remember. Her given name, Hanako, translates to 'flower child.' From her earliest memories of her mother calling her a 'rose,' flowers have always held deeper meanings. A rose was beautiful and delicate, but not without its thorns. It's the hope that her mother wanted for her. Her father, meanwhile, called her a dandelion. Most might take it as an insult, but he said it was because people underestimated the resiliency of flowering weeds.

A nickname she uses to this day is 'wildflower.' Given to her during one of the darkest parts of her life, it was a reminder that she was stronger than she gave herself credit for. She bloomed in a place she wasn't meant to instead of withering away like wildflowers often do.

Door - They say that when one door opens, another one closes. For example: The death of Ren ensured that she lived. While the door on a life with him closed, a door to a life of her own opened. As a result, she was able to travel as a roadie and gain more worldly knowledge. It allowed her the opportunity to learn about so many new people and places. She is much more adventurous for her experiences and more likely to take risks or do what she wants to.

While she wishes she could leave closed doors alone though, she has a bad tendency to ruminate on what could have been behind them than appreciate the ones opened for her. She also sometimes tries to force doors open that are closed to her. It doesn't often work, but that hasn't stopped her from trying either. Someday, it'll work. Probably.

SUITABILITY: From a young age, Rosie was told and experienced first-hand how many yokai have an 'unnatural beauty' in order to seduce and trick humans to their dooms. She was no exception. While she has mixed feelings about it's original intent, she can acknowledge that her beauty is one of her strengths. So, she's learned how to utilize it to her advantage where able. As a roadie on the road running from her past, it helped her find places to stay or make things a little easier.

During her time back home as an informant disguised as a simple courtesan, Rosie also became very comfortable with things of a sexual nature as well. She's used to - and even enjoys - being the object of attention and desire to others. Being watched or having an audience is not only normalized now for the woman but even excites her to a degree. It is, to her, much better than being a fighter or source of pain for others; to that end, she perhaps has even over-corrected and tied most of her worth now into how fuckable she is.

While not exactly healthy, it does mean she knows well how to entertain and enjoys having the limelight. She'll find fun in more active, consistent viewership that will be for her own wants for once versus needing to extract information from others or other ulterior motives. She won't have to worry about that and instead just focus on keeping her social media presence to ensure she's keeping up her end of the contract with the Sinducer now. All things considered, it'll be seen as a much easier deal and far less stressful than her job back home.

CHARACTER ARC PLANS: For Rosie, perhaps counterintuitively, I enjoy exploring her finding worth outside of sex. While she will at first be undoubtedly incentivized to care a lot about her public image, sex appeal, and so on- It is my hope that she reaches a point where she starts to recognize those things don't need to matter as much.

I want her to learn that she can appeal to an audience with her musical talent, creativity, and other talents. Sex can be something she enjoys, too, but doesn't need to be everything nor is only what makes her worth anything.
WISH: Rosie will be wishing for a 'second chance' from the Sinducer. While she considers being here borrowed time, she would like the ability to fix things when she returns home. She wants to save Charlie (and herself) from death... and also save Charlie from himself and the hatred that has eaten alive over the last nine lives.
COLLATERAL: Rosie will offer up her voice as collateral to show how serious she is about this. If she breaks her contract, the Sinducer is free to take her voice so she can no longer sing. This is one of the only things besides her looks that she cares deeply about and wouldn't want to give up.
ADDITIONAL CONTRACT CLAUSES: The only clause that Rosie will ask for is that if any of the Morgans - Feldspar, Reyson, or Misto - arrive, they will be given anything they want as a clause without offering up their own extra collateral. Hanako 'Rosie' Nurumi

Despite several people from a place called Amani being familiar with her, Rosie is adamant that she is her own individual and not the woman they remember.

She is adjusting to life in 'ye olden' times as well as she can. Her dragon changes are already and will cause quite a bit of distress as Rosie puts a lot of weight into how she is perceived. Thankfully, she has a literal therapist in the form of her dragon soul, Demora Luthric, and they will gradually begin to work together instead of in disharmony.

disclaimer Rosie is a woman of Japanese descent and that influences many aspects of her character. While I try to be as accurate and sensitive as I can, I know I won't always get it right. Please don't be afraid to correct me if I am mistaken or seem uninformed on a topic.

Personality.

Rosie is a nightmare dressed up like a daydream; despite being all sunshine and smiles, she's hiding the fact that she's literally a monster who is supposed to eat people. Emphasis on the supposed to though because, well, she doesn't want to! That's kind of the whole issue. Rose just wants to be a normal everyday person and live a boring albeit musical life.

Unfortunately, she's super paranoid about being found out because of the stigma attached to her kind and being hunted throughout her life due to what she is. so while she's super outgoing and extroverted, eventually people will realize she's not really close to them. Scaling those walls can be difficult but on the other side, Rosie is a ride-to-die loyal friend who will protect those she cares for with everything she has.

background.

Born a 'defective' yokai, Rosie has felt displaced her entire life. She was rejected by her pack and left to become a lone wolf from a very young age. Years of this isolation and alienation from her own kind (though she'd rather use the term 'independence') has made her a bit reluctant to rely on anyone besides herself.

She took a shady deal to enter the world of humans she'd felt a closer kinship with since she could remember. It led to her enslavement in a fighting ring for otherworldly creatures like her. They would battle to the death for entertainment and profit. Her previously gained self-preservation instincts served her well there. When slated for a breeding program to further the lineage of 'champions,' she and a friend plotted their escape. He didn't make it but ensured that she did.

The damage done on their way out has put a bounty upon her head. For a while, she traveled under the guise of a simple roadie. It allowed her to hide in plain sight whilst also following a love of music discovered during her darkest days in the fighting ring.

Eventually, she found her way into working as an informant for a fellow yokai who wished to break up the fighting rings they were both subjected to. It was only too late she realized that his goals were more intensive in scope than originally proposed. He wishes to actually swing the pendulum the other way and let demonkind reign in place of humanity. But he also promised her safety, security, and things she'd never thought possible so she keeps finding reasons to stay.

She's become a songbird in a gilded cage, trapped again just with nicer window dressings.

impressions.

visual. Rosie is 5'1", around 110lbs, and petite in build. Her hair is a strawberry blond color and eyes a dark brown. At a glance, she doesn't look like much beyond your average tiny Japanese lady. She usually wears make-up but just enough to hide any hints of exhaustion from how little she actually sleeps, even for her kind.

attire. Like she rolled right out of an underground Rock concert. Her typical wardrobe is loose-fitting obscure band T-shirts, jeans, and hair down and wild. While she can clean up quite well, she tends to prefer comfort over appearances when given the freedom to choose.

demeanor. To begin with, Rose is sunshine personified. She's fun, carefree, and doesn't seem to let much get her down for long. Once people start to get to know her, well- That's the thing. They'll realize they don't really know her. While it might seem like she's extremely open, she isn't actually telling anyone a lot about herself in the process. Getting any real sincerity or vulnerability out of her is difficult and she's more likely to lash out and try to push people away than let them truly in.

aural. She has a light, airy voice but talks like she's still stuck in the 90s and early 2000s of America. 'Dude' is used as a descriptor for most people, she uses dated catchphrases, and laments how music isn't what it used to be.

olfactory. To those with sharp senses, she smells contradictory. It's like fresh earth masking something rotting that hits someone unexpectedly. She uses perfumes and floral scents to hide this since, look, she knows but has no idea what it means.

shipping. absolutely! rosie tends to take more time romantically, but be about as down to fuck as anyone ever was. she prefers physical connection over emotional and will avoid the latter with the former.

she is a bit 'boy crazy' and easily gets fleeting, surface-level crushes on men. with women, she tends to have the problem of conflating jealousy and attraction due to the nature of her job meaning she tends to see other women as competition for the attention of men. once she gets over that or recognizes they aren't a threat to begin with, she's just as attracted to women as she is men.

smut. always! rosie's character is largely informed by sex and it's one of my favorite things to explore with her since her character arc as a whole is broadly to learn to value herself outside of her perceived attractiveness. that said: she is a very sexual being and enjoys it greatly. I prefer to write out smut, but am totally open to hand-waving hook-ups or background bangs as people wish/are comfortable with.

SURVIVOR

'He lied' is the first thing that Rosie thinks. Maybe that's not very fair. She isn't feeling very charitable though after being left yet again. There was no crack in their simulated reality or obvious attempt to stay for her sake like promised. Not that she truly faulted him or Noctis. In the end, they were as powerless as any of them.

As soon as she wonders what she's going to do, she remembers: "You'd survive. Not because I'd want you to, or because anyone would expect it, but because it's what you are. Nobody can stop you. Nothing can keep you down forever. It's what I admire most about you, and it's why you make me a better man."

She'd told Noctis once that all she could was love him while he was here knowing that a future wasn't likely possible. "I dunno what it feels like for me yet, but...I feel really good, here with you. Like I can follow my heart, too. That's new for me...but I want to try." It still hurts more than she can truly express though to have that confirmation that a future with them was likely never going to end any way but in heartbreak.

She'll survive.

Maybe, she'll even love again like she did with them.

But does she want to? That's the question now.

It doesn't feel like it sitting by herself in Ardyn's apartment. There's nothing cooking to wake her and Noctis up, no one to come back and cuddle (or more) with her, and no life or love to be found. It's just dark, quiet, and empty. All the things Ardyn said he was back on Eos but she'd done her best with Noctis to prove wrong.

At some point after realizing he wasn't there and that she couldn't connect to either him or Noctis on the network, she'd sought out some of their left behind clothes and put them on. Not to burn or ruin or anything like that this time. Instead, she simply wrapped herself up in their scents. It was comforting but also caused her to realize that they'd fade eventually and all she'd have would be memories.

Well, memories and a tattoo over her womb. A fun spot suggested by Ardyn and that she'll now treat as a small reminder - for her and others - to the men her body and heart truly belonged to for a time. Will they still have the tattoo to remind of her and Amani? She can hope.

Funny, she also notes, that she'd painted flowers on the walls and windows to help them remember her if she'd disappeared but it's once again only her who remains. Now, she stains their once shared sheets with tears and snot until it feels like she physically can't cry anymore. She sleeps, cries again, and loses track of the time.

Eventually though, she'll find the strength to do the only thing she feels she can: request The Peacekeeper send her home. While there's nothing there for her anymore, nothing is better than this. She's sorry to disappoint them but she doesn't want to survive anymore without Seteth, without Ardyn, without Noctis, and the continual fear that any of her other lovers could be stripped away without warning.

She's so tired of surviving. All she wants is to go to a promise of oblivion and end to this grief. The Peacekeeper obliges... but not in the way she anticipates. When Rosie falls out of consciousness in the AI's chambers, she'll awake after a few days a different woman.

One with the knowledge that her fate isn't death and that, like promised, she survived. Even if not in the way anyone - least of all her - expected.

Happy Holidays, Elidibus. I know this gift doesn't compare to the one you recently gave me but I hope the thought counts more than anything.

Elidibus, first and foremost, gets the gift of music Rosie has composed. They come on three different vinyls - all emblazoned with a golden pink rose in some variation - and are very clearly heartfelt pieces. Only one has lyrics on it, a poetic tale of a man drifting among the stars looking for hope in the heart of all there is in the universe.

He also gets a sexy pin-up. After some deliberation, actually, since Rosie wasn't sure if it would be too much but decided to go with her (almost always) sexy instincts on this one. Hopefully, it's appreciated.

He also gets a snippet of vine from herself. While it normally doesn't work when detached from her person, this one is enchanted to link to Elidibus and move or bloom with his thoughts and emotions. It makes a nice impromptu hair tie, bracelet, or collar necklace for however he'd like to accessorize it.

Barnabas gets the gift of lights. Rose gold-plated lanterns to hang up on his boat that will automatically flicker to life as he walks by them.

He also gets a model figurine of him as Odin riding Sleipnir into battle. While she knows of his other form, she's yet to see it and this may be her hinting as such. Either way, it's a decently sized decoration piece that he can put wherever he likes.

Happy Holidays, my unexpected husband. While I'm tempted to say me as a wife is all the gift you'll need, I've gone ahead and thought of some other things.

Of course, he gets a sexy pin-up photo. The wedding edition, even! It's actually a handful of silly photo booth print-outs with stickers, sparkles, and everything (that she doubts he remembers taking since she definitely doesn't).

But he will also get a new battle staff. It sparks to life with lightning magic once he gets a hold of it. While she hopes he won't need it here, better to be safe than sorry.

The final gift is a broken bowl repaired with gold and a note explaining the significance of kintsugi to highlight and embrace imperfections rather than erase them. Even if they consider their impromptu wedding a "mistake," it's a part of their history now that she hopes won't be forgotten at least.

If nothing else, the sexy pin-up photo is quite nice. This one is unique, too, both in pose and that she's wearing black lingerie instead of the white of the other photos given out.

The note attached says that while Rosie knows Erika is more than capable of handling herself, learning the importance of having someone there for you goes both ways. Hand-to-Hand Combat. As a fighter, her strength was hand-to-hand combat. Rose is well versed in Aikido and Muay Thai, specifically.

Weapon Proficiency. Both blades and firearms proficient. Prefers short-range when using firearms. She is also most comfortable with short blades.

Musically Gifted. She is able to sing (mezzo-soprano range), play guitar and piano fluently, learn instruments at a quick rate, and can carry a tune in a bucket to save her life. This also extends to her ability to dance and pick up new culture's dances quickly and easily.

Abilities:

Superhuman strength. Though she appears "petite" demon strength often defies appearances. She's about as strong as three adult human men combined.

Super speed and agility. Rose's speed is above average for even her kind. At her fastest, she can appear as a blur to the human eye, which is a feat impressive to even some yōkai.

Heightened Senses. Being part animal, Rose is able to hear, smell, and see better than the average person.

Night Vision. Able to see well in low light conditions.

Small control over ice. Being an okami from the Northern Clan of the Makai and living in a harsh, frigid environment they all have some ability to manipulate ice. It's very small and is about the equivalent of using an ice pack; she can freeze things if she really concentrates but it's still difficult for her.

Healing (minor). Although none of her kind should have the ability to, another way she was set apart as strange from a young age was being able to heal. Since she never learned how to use this power properly and keeps it hidden for the most part, she can't use it for severe injuries. She can heal small cuts, bruises, etc.

Glamour. More powerful yokai are able to mask their appearance to seem human. This is mostly to trick humans into trusting them and drawing close enough to attack and eat them. For Rose, she keeps this glamour on to seem human and while it's become second-nature to her now it can still drop during moments of intense physical and/or emotional struggle.

CHARACTERIZATION

FORMATIVE EXPERIENCES: CWs to follow for suicide, parental abuse, human trafficking, forced violence, sexual trauma, and emotional/mental abuse

FIRST EVENT: - The death of her mother. While Rose will say her love of music started in the ring, it really did when she was young and her mother sang to her often. Her mother is where her chosen name of 'Rose' came from and she was much closer to her than her father. But after discovering her unexpected ability to heal, her mother went into a downward spiral. She turned cruel and callous towards Rose as well as withdrawing from the rest of their pack. Eventually, her body was found at the bottom of a ravine in bloody tatters. Although Rose was told it was an accident, she discovered the truth not long after when her father tried to drown her in a nearby river claiming it "should have been her to die." Another member of her pack saved her but told her to leave and never look back. She didn't. For the next couple of centuries, Rose would wander the Makai alone and learn to live for herself. Years of this isolation and alienation from her own kind (though she'd rather use the term 'independence') have made her a bit reluctant to rely on anyone besides herself.

SECOND EVENT: - Entering the ring. She took a shady deal to enter the world of humans she hoped might give her another chance at finding somewhere she belonged. It instead led to her enslavement in a fighting ring for otherworldly creatures like her. They would battle to the death for entertainment and money wagered by the wealthy. Her previously gained self-preservation instincts served her well there and she quickly became one of the ring's reigning champions. Due to this, she has intense survivor's guilt and PTSD. She also actually views herself extremely poorly for "selfishly" choosing her own life repeatedly over the lives of her fellow demons.

THIRD EVENT: - Breaking free. When slated for a breeding program to further the lineage of 'champions,' she and a friend plotted their escape. He didn't make it but ensured that she did. The damage done on their way out has put a bounty upon her head. She began to travel under the guise of a simple roadie. It allowed her to hide in plain sight whilst also following a love of music. As a result, she also has vast worldly knowledge and loves to learn about new people and places. She is much more adventurous for her experiences and more likely to take risks or do what she needs to in order to keep a roof over her head and be decently fed.

FOURTH EVENT: - Meeting Charlie. During a trip through her home country of Japan, she met a strange salaryman late one evening while waiting for the first train. Or so Rose thought he was nothing more than a salaryman. In time, she learned that he was a fellow yokai who had spent several lives building up a vast fortune and network of influence to try and swing the pendulum the other way for what he, Rose, and others of their kind had suffered at the hands of humans. Caught in a whirlwind romance with him, she ultimately ended up deciding to work for his cause as an 'informant.' She would go on dates for pay and sleep with men who had valuable information for Charlie; while this put her in immediate contact with the very humans who hated her kind, she was willing to go through it for what she had to believe was the greater good.

FIFTH EVENT: - Her death. Eventually, Charlie's ambitions grew too big for even himself. He had to be stopped before enacting his plans to end humanity. Rose thought she would be the one to do it but humanity answered the threat before she could. It seemed anti-climatic that a bullet through his brain was the end of Charlie's ninth and final life. A shot through her heart though - or, at least, her chest - seemed apt. All Rose remembers is the pain and then an assailant coming at her with a knife to finish the job the bullet didn't. She was stabbed and thrown back over the edge of a Tokyo skyrise. A dizzying freefall (and why she's now terrified of heights) was the last thing she can recall before waking up somewhere else entirely and fine.

PHILOSOPHY: One would think that Rose's philosophy is to have fun. She's seemingly carefree and doesn't appear to let much get her down for long. Once people start to get to know her, well- That's the thing. They'll realize they don't really know her. While it might seem like she's extremely open and personable, she isn't actually telling anyone a lot about herself in the process. Getting any real sincerity or vulnerability out of her is difficult and she's more likely to lash out and try to push people away than let them truly in. Her true philosophy is that she can only depend on herself. Her walls are built sturdy and tall and she refuses to let anyone scale them easily.

DESIRES: More than anything, Rose wants to belong. Her entire life she's been displaced, outcast, and never quite fit anywhere. She isn't accepted among her own kind and is a wolf in sheep's clothing among humans. While some have known the truth of what she was, Rose never stuck around long enough to determine how they felt about it. She was hunted and hated simply for what she was and wouldn't give anyone the chance to know her well let alone betray her trust. So, overall, her greatest desire is simply to be herself and be loved for that authenticity.

FEARS: Superficially, Rose is afraid of drowning, spiders, and heights. In a more existential sense, Rose is terrified that she'll never truly belong anywhere. Already displaced between two worlds, she isn't about to put her hope in this one either but that's also a horrifying prospect. Will she ever actually belong anywhere? Is there a place for a creature like her? While she might claim that love isn't part of it, she would be lying. Rose is also scared that if there is no place for her then that means there is no love out there for her and she's doomed to live the rest of her life and die sad and alone.

GAMEPLAY

SUITABILITY: Coming from being a courtesan of sorts, Rose actually finds the attitudes of the people in Rubilykskoye with regards to sex quite refreshing. This is because she now wants to enjoy sex on her own terms and find pleasure for herself rather than a means to an end for someone else. As for the horror aspects, she's obviously gone through her fair share of horrifying ordeals. She's rather resilient and adaptable and, if nothing else, can put a smile on like no one else and pretend she's fine.

Her slime will change color and flavor depending on her mood. For example, when angry she will turn red and taste like cinnamon since, you know, she's being a little spicy. This will vary and not be static since emotions are nuanced and layered. As someone who keeps her feelings carefully guarded, having them on display in such an obvious way will force character growth and development from her since she'll have to acknowledge these emotions rather than try and keep them concealed.

As a slime monster, Rose's 'skin' will be semi-transparent no matter what color it is. Her internal organs won't be on display but rather completely transparent. She will have no skeleton that can be seen but the ability to keep herself in a humanoid shape some...how.... The most important thing though is that anything that goes through or into her can be seen.

Although weathered and the paint peeling, Rose has done her best to make the outside lively where she can. Eventually, she hopes to grow hydrangeas in the summer.

There are many people who believe that humanity is alone in the world. As one might have guessed, they are wrong. However, they are only partially wrong. Creatures like werewolves and vampires were human at one point. Just like many species, these abnormalities are genetic mutations that have occurred throughout humanity's existence. While there are plenty more of these mutations to speak of, vampires and werewolves are the most 'popular' and thus the most commonly represented in modern media. So, why is humanity partially right then in thinking they are alone in the world? It's because the scariest things that go 'thump' in the night aren't actually from their world. The world that they do come from is called many things across many different cultures. Some religious groups call it 'Hell.' The closest name to being accurate would be the Japanese lore of the Makai – the Demon World.

This world is connected to humanity's at several different points. Though, as one can imagine, it isn't exactly easy to find let alone pass through these points. Only those with an aptitude for energy manipulation and detecting the supernatural ( shamans, 'witches,' etc. ) are able to even think about tapping into the other side. It takes a lot of skill and determination to travel to the Makai. In fact, it usually requires the work of more than one person. What of the the yōkai, the demons? Don't they also try to cross the barriers that separate them and the human world? The answer, simply, is no. Not very often. Though humans and yokai used to co-exist, such a time has become history now. Humans taint the purity of their world and thus the demons keep to themselves.

The Makai is a primitive place. Things like electricity and running water that humans take for granted are reserved only for the most powerful demon lords. Many live off the land, hunting and gathering for food. However, most are content this way. They gain a sense of pride from living so in tune with nature. It is how they have gotten by for the entirety of their existence. Some things are becoming more 'modern' but those areas are isolated and, again, reserved for the elite. Being one with nature is in demon blood, it is at the very core of who they are. Many yōkai originated from animal spirits, after all.

They do not think of humanity or their world as being luxurious. Part of the reason why is because most demons see themselves as superior to humans. A good many demons are warriors with superhuman strengths and abilities. Humans do not even provide them a challenge. In fact, humans that venture to the Demon World are usually either enslaved or slaughtered before they have a chance to do much else. That is why humanity shifted from trying to get to the Makai to instead bringing yōkai to them. By performing rituals, humans discovered that they could summon forth demons from the points that connect to theirs and enslave them with the proper incantations or magically embedded chains. It wasn't an easy task but after enough trial and error, several groups of people throughout Japan became rather proficient at summoning otherworldly creatures. They would capture these demons and pit them against each other for their own entertainment and gain over one another.

It is the yōkai that are called monsters by humans. But it is humankind that is seen as nothing but a plague by the yōkai. Peace between the two worlds seems like an impossibility; yet, there are some who would like to believe differently. However, those that believe are few and far between. So, while peace isn't unobtainable it certainly is still a long, long way off.

Rose was born to the beta of a prestigious pack of okuri inu in the Hida mountains. It didn't take long before it was discovered that she was a 'defective' child. She was a square peg trying to fit into a round hole. While the girl had an aptitude for fighting and survival, she was weak in other ways that were unacceptable. The first time her father killed an elderly human that tripped on a mountain pass, she cried for him. No one had ever heard or seen an okuri inu with such empathy for people. It drove her mother to suicide and her father to try and kill her, claiming she should have been the one to die. Her pack alpha stopped her father and told her to run in a moment of mercy. She did and never looked back.

For nearly two hundred years, she roamed the Makai alone searching for a home she'd never known and likely wouldn't find. One day, a proposal was made to Rose in the form of an offer to live in the Ningenkai - the human realm - for no price. It was a deal too good be true but she took it anyway. As one might have imagined, it was a trap. She was enslaved in a to-the-death fighting ring for supernatural creatures like her for years. With her natural skill in battle and two hundred years in a fight for your life world of demons, she quickly became a champion: The Black Rose.

Her only solace was a friend in the man caged next to her named Ren Kazuki. He was a Japanese werewolf who had been the lead singer of a band before being captured. Through him, she gained a love of music that helped see her through the darkest times in the ring. Eventually, she was slated for a breeding program to bring rise to the next generation of champion fighters. Rose resigned herself to this fate but Ren wouldn't allow it. He plotted an escape, executed it, and lost his life in the process of making sure that Rose managed to get away. She took the lives of everyone on her way out in a fit of rage and grief.

Ren had instructed her before he passed to find a friend of his. The elderly witch gave Rose a handful of gifts: Ren's guitar, a glamour, and the news that she was a wanted woman all across Japan's underground demon-hunting population. She fled the country and arrived in America in 1988. It was still the height of Rock 'n' Roll and finding a job as a roadie was easy. It killed two birds with one stone; she could continue her love of music and live a life on the road to keep on the run from hunters perusing her. So she set out without a second thought.

After a few years, Rose thought maybe the search for her had gone cold. The year was 1999 and everything in life was going pretty fine. A new millennium was approaching and the world felt like it was turning over a new leaf. Maybe, Rose thought she could finally settle down. So she stayed in a sleepy town in Georgia for just a little over three months. She learned the hard way in the form of a woman named Roxanne that coming to a standstill wasn't an option. Roxanne was a rocker roadie just like Rose. She had huge dreams of being one of the biggest stars on stage in the 2000s. When she tried to take said stage with Rose as her guitarist, she was rewarded with a bullet between the eyes by a hunter that had gotten wind of the wolf woman in his city. Just as she had time and time again, Rose fled.

The next time Rose stopped running after Roxanne was 2018. It was the first time in three hundred years that she had met another yokai like her. He was a neko - a cat - by the alias of Charlie. Rose had never gotten to know his real name for he joked that after eight lives he hardly remembered who he was anymore. She'd come to learn in time he wasn't exactly like her. Instead of wanting to just live among humans, he desired to hurt them in a different way. He too was an escapee one of the fighting rings scattered across the world. He wanted the people that ran them to suffer the same way he and Rose had, to swing the pendulum the other way and have humans get a taste of the pain they'd inflicted on their kind. His fiery rage was stomped out by a bullet through his heart and his ninth life coming to an anticlimactic end. In the same breath, an attempt on Rose's life was made. As far as she knows, it was successful.

Personality:
+ Above all things, Rose is adventurous. She isn't afraid to charge out on her own or headfirst for better or for worse. Almost nothing seems to be enough to deter the woman from doing what she wants to do.

+ She is also adaptable, resilient, and resourceful. Rose has been through a lot in her life but continues to keep going. When thrown into new situations, the woman does her best to immediately adapt to it to the best of her capability. This is shown through her independent travels through the Makai and learning to survive as a lone wolf, being thrust into a fighting ring and learning fast how to keep herself alive, and even joining humanity as she'd always dreamed and found ways to blend in and hide in plain sight.

+ She is also, for the most part, fairly intelligent. However, she is not analytical. Not really. Rose is known for snap judgments and decisions after a surface-level glance at her situations. Her strength is speed not just on her feet but also mentally. She has an aptitude for thinking fast... even if sometimes fast isn't all that's needed to get out of a situation unscathed.

- Most of where Rose's weaknesses rest are within her own convoluted mental state due to all of what she's been through. So, her greatest weakness is believing that she is undeserving of just about anything. She isn't worthy of any goodness granted to her, especially not the people in her life that care about her. All she sees is a monster that isn't near worthy of things such as friendship or love. She doesn't understand why they care about her and even goes so far as to convince herself that they actually don't. Or, even worse, that they do but they'd be far better off without her. It is because of these beliefs that she ends up making extremely selflessly selfish decisions and hurting or disappointing them terribly.

- To go along with that, Rose thinks only of herself, only of her suffering, and tends to take the weight of the world on her shoulders instead of seeking help when necessary. The blond lets things reach a breaking point that inevitably lead to the aforementioned bad decision-making. She holds a lot of negative thoughts and emotions inside behind her smiles and tries to deal with them on her own instead of confiding in others. She sees this not as harmful to herself but instead helping others; her problems aren't a burden anyone else should have to bear.

- Finally, one of her strengths is a weakness of its own. Her quick thinking outside of do-or-die situations can lead to impulsive decisions that actually do more harm than good. She is quick to decide on something only to realize the repercussions of her actions after the fact. Though this can lead to some very fun, interesting situations it can also lead to very dramatic mistakes as well.

Byleth's gifts are a small, medium, and large box all stacked atop each other in decorative paper. Thankfully, traditions here seem similar enough to earth that it wasn't difficult to find it.

The smallest gift is a jewelry box. Inside, there are two rings with a gem embedded that hums with magical energy. A note from Rose reads: I know you have your own rings for each other, but these are teleportation ones. Whenever you need to, you can be right by Dimitri's side and vice versa.

Next, in the medium box, is a hand-painted figurine of Byleth himself wielding a sword. It is delicately painted to his likeness down to the outfit and all. Turns out people here are just as nerdy as anywhere in the multiverse and she thought, considering where they came from, it might help make them feel closer to home in a strange new technological world.

Finally, the largest box contains an antique record player. It also comes with several pieces of vinyl that Byleth can choose from ranging from 80s Rock to Classical Jazz. There is, of course, 'The Queen' and others he had mentioned liking.

Since Joric is, as Rose knows, a very practical man so are his gifts. For her self-proclaimed mountain man, he receives a hand-crafted set of hunting knivees. While she didn't make the blades, she had carved the handles herself. The designs on them range from simple patterns to a horse and even a wolf.

The second gift is actually for him and his pet both. It is a veritable feast of smoked meat. She figures that he knows how to make his own, of course, but why not save him some time by gifting it instead? Hopefully, it's gone in no time and she has an excuse to make more for him. It was actually pretty fun.

The first box that Ashe will unwrap is a exorcism kit. Since she remembered how spooked he was during all that ghost nonsense a few months back, well... Maybe he'd feel better if he was armed with salt, sage, and good 'ol fashioned holy water. The gun might be a little excessive but, look, a ghost deserves to be shot at if it's scaring the hell out of her friend.

Like Byleth, Ashe also receives a hand-painted figurine to his likeness. Well, with some added flare. He certainly looks a lot more knightly in gilded armor and stands proud and tall. Her Fódlan friends deserve to be honored, of course, and this was the only way she could think how.

The rest gift she receives is a bit of a jab at her demonic transformation some months ago. It is a hooded sweatshirt that reads: I'm not a demon, I'm just mortally challenged. on the front. While she knows that Rey runs hot, Rose figures she might appreciate long sleeves now and again too for comfort's sake when lounging.

The second gift is a variety of house decor from paintings to pillows. They all seem to follow the same color scheme which might be recognizable as the colors of the lesbian flag. While Rose isn't sure if Rey is familiar with it, that's fine. It'll just be nice decorations for her new home if nothing else.

Dorothea's gifts are simple but elegant. The first is a beautiful blue and gold necklace. While not made with real gold, as it is apparently forbidden, she had gotten the next best available metal she could. The blue are shards of sapphire that are hard to come by and coveted by those who worship the ascended deity. Don't ask her how much it all cost. It's fine.

The second gift is one she's given to all her friends from Fódlan and is a hand-painted figurine of Dorothea's likeness. The tiny figure has one hand to her chest, the other raised up, and appears to be singing. Rose figures she would have liked to be memorialized for that rather than the war that they all speak of.

While she's sure he has some, these lean a bit more formal and includes a note from Rose that reads: "For date nights. ♥" Of course, she couldn't get away without one joke gift. It's a pair of boxers that reads something silly. The note that goes with this particular one only says: "If Felix punches you for wearing this, I am not liable in any way."

Like all her other Fódlan friends so far, he gets a hand-painted figurine to his likeness. His even has the bonus of being atop an armored horse and wielding a little (but sharp) lance.

His first gift is a very heavy, solid pair of brawling knuckles. She had them commissioned some time ago from a smithy in Primavera. While they may not be quite as nice as back home, well, she hopes it counts for something. Rose knows how much he loves to punch shit. And, honestly, how much she loves to watch.

The second gift goes with the Fódlan friends motif and is a hand-painted figurine to Caspar's likeness. He is posed in his armor with a fist up in the air. Even his tiny self looks absolutely hyped up. It isn't much, really, but she hopes that he likes it.

In a small bag with colorful tissue paper, Zhongli will find two gifts for him. The first is an ornate red and gold hairpin. Look, he's got a lot of it. While she loves how pullable it is, maybe he wants to wear it up and be fancy once in a while.

The next gift is a small box that comes with various samples of loose leaf tea. Rose knows there's nothing quite as good as old-fashioned tea leaves. He seems like the kind of man who would appreciate them.

Khalid's gift is a makeshift shrine that she'd set up in his old residence in the Ruby Underground. It's not as though he's dead but it was the only thing she could think to honor the fact that he had been here. While she's still keeping tabs on the soup kitchen for him, her involvement has become more hands-off since moving to Primavera. Still, she drops in from time to time and make sure it's doing alright.

This Brumfast, she spends part of it in the quiet to be found in this empty home. It helps that she has saké as she sits atop the roof with legs dangling over the edge. She left a couple of cups out for him and Ferdinand both. She isn't sure it works like it would where she's from but hopes her well wishes are still put out into the multiverse somehow.
