HISTORY
CANON: Born a 'defective' yokai, Rose has felt displaced her entire life. She was rejected by her pack and left to become a lone wolf from a very young age. Years of this isolation and alienation from her own kind (though she'd rather use the term 'independence') has made her a bit reluctant to rely on anyone besides herself.She took a shady deal to enter the world of humans she'd felt a kinship with since she could remember. It led to her enslavement in a fighting ring for otherworldly creatures like her. They would battle to the death for entertainment. Her previously gained self-preservation instincts served her well there. When slated for a breeding program to further the lineage of 'champions,' she and a friend plotted their escape. He didn't make it but ensured that she did.
The damage done on their way out has put a bounty upon her head. Now, she travels under the guise of a simple roadie. It allows her to hide in plain sight whilst also following a love of music discovered during her darkest days in the fighting ring. Her past caught up with her, however, and the last thing she remembers was being locked in a fatal encounter with her pursuers before waking up on the shores of The Nameless Island.
ERKU: At first, Rose treated Erku as a 'second chance' at life and lived it to the fullest. With how well she seemed to be able to meet The Augur's 'demands,' most wouldn't know that she was actually beginning to have difficulty coping with it all. The reality of her situation began to set in.
Although Rose kept her struggles close to her chest for as long as she could, eventually the cracks in her mask grew too large to hide. She believed she had no choice but to do as The Augur dictated since she didn't have a life to return to. She'd spent years isolated and alienated in a relationship she'd only barely begun to unpack as unhealthy. Before that, she'd spent most of her life trying to avoid connection rather than embrace it. Her brash, impulsive behavior started to cause more problems than anything.
However, unlike home, she was forced to confront the consequences of her actions rather than just run away. She began to learn the merits of relying on others rather than solely herself. Felix taught her the importance of reconciliation rather than avoidance. Byleth helped her better understand what it meant to connect to others. Seteth helped her feel valid in her emotions rather than shoving them down as she always had. She grew rather attached to him in particular due to his kind nature and positive influence.
AMANI: Everything was going surprisingly well. Then she died. Again. While her memories of what actually happened on The Nameless Island near the end are hazy, she was told that she was killed in an apocalyptic scenario. Everyone was. She chose not to view it and, instead, sought out anyone familiar.
Byleth remembered her and their time on The Nameless Island. Felix didn't. Seteth, who she hoped to see most of all, was nowhere to be found. While she would continue to act as though she was fine, she worried about losing her spot in Byleth's life with the arrival of so many people from his home. She mourned the loss of those who she felt foolish for getting attached to in the first place. Rose fell back into old habits hard and kept, for the most part, her struggles to herself. She even cut her hair short as a symbol of starting a new chapter in this strange afterlife.
After a month, she had come to rely on Byleth more than she would like to admit. Funny, in a way, how their roles from the island seemed reversed to begin with. Her and Felix are becoming friends all over again (and maybe even a little more). Seteth was uploaded to the simulation and she wasted no time reconnecting with him. They live together in a cottage by the sea with a once-deity named Hypnos that Rose took in and a 'haunted' couch. And honestly? She's happier than she's been in a long time for it even with the ups and downs.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES
VISUAL: Rosie is 5'1", 110lbs soaking wet, petite as can be but surprisingly busty. Her hair is a strawberry blond color and eyes a dark brown. At a glance, she doesn't look like much beyond your average tiny Japanese lady. She usually wears make-up but just enough to hide any hints of exhaustion from how little she actually sleeps, even for her kind.SCARS: Rosie's body is littered with multiple minor scars. The most prominent are the claw mark scars along her back. The second most noticeable to that are faint, jagged lines that run down the front of her shoulder from two puncture wounds that one might recognize as spider bites.
FASHION: Like she rolled right out of an underground Rock concert. Her typical wardrobe is loose-fitting obscure band T-shirts, jeans, and hair down and wild. While she can clean up quite well, she tends to prefer comfort over appearance.
DEMEANOR: To begin with, Rose is sunshine personified. She's fun, carefree, and doesn't seem to let much get her down for long. Once people start to get to know her, well- That's the thing. They'll realize they don't really know her. While it might seem like she's extremely open, she isn't actually telling anyone a lot about herself in the process. Getting any real sincerity or vulnerability out of her is difficult and she's more likely to lash out and try to push people away than let them truly in.
SOUND: She has a light, airy voice but talks like she's still stuck in the 90s and early 2000s. 'Dude' is used as a descriptor for most people, she uses dated catchphrases and laments how music isn't what it used to be.
SCENT: To those with sharp senses, she smells contradictory. It's like fresh earth masking something rotting that hits someone unexpectedly. She uses perfumes and floral scents to hide this since, look, she knows but has no idea what it means.
IC PERMISSIONS
SEXUALITY & PREFERENCES: A chaotic bisexual but tends to gravitate towards men. She's about a 2 on the Kinsey Scale but sexuality is fluid so this is subject to change!PHYSICAL AFFECTION: It needs to be on her terms. When it isn't, she will play it off as nothing but there will be a distinct undercurrent of discomfort at any perceived lack of control.
HUGGING: She doesn't really do hugs without realizing it; she's not the warmest person in the world despite trying to act like sunshine personified.
KISSING: She loves it way more than she's willing to admit. Due to her usual brand of encounters being one-night stands from people cheating on their significant others, she's gotten used to not being 'allowed' to kiss during more intimate moments.
FLIRTING: Rose loves a good flirt session so long as it isn't taken seriously. As soon as things veer into "actual feelings" territory instead of just fun, she gets a bit awkward and fumbles over herself.
RELATIONSHIPS: This lady is about as DTF as it gets but good luck trying to get anything more meaningful. While she actually tends to fall fast and hard for people, she also keeps that close to her chest and will purposefully underestimate her place in people's lives to spare herself from getting more hurt than she needs to.
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: If talked about/communicated? Totally fine, let's get a bit rough. If it's a surprise? She'll switch gears immediately into survival mode and retaliate perhaps more intensely than she means to.
DEATH: Rose thinks she is dead and also has a few people she's grieving; it'd be very hard for her to discuss seriously or deal with.
OFF LIMITS: n/a! A lot of her triggers are one's I'm willing to play out/with as long as it's communicated so nothing really to worry about.
