[Mercifully for them both, Rosie's excited yelling is somewhat drowned out by the racket of flapping wings as Pebbles comes in for a landing. Seteth slides down from the wyvern's back, reaching into a saddle bag before moving to join her; he offers Rosie what turns out to be a chunk of some sort of smoked meat, wrapped in a bit of rough cloth.]

He's quite used to loud noises, don't worry. But I imagine he might like a midnight snack.

[You know what's a good way to get animals to like you? Bribes.]

[Pebbles snuffles at Rosie, eyes bright with interest, only to look from her to Seteth and back; he makes a little shooing gesture.]

Go on, it's fine.

[A good shake that leaves his reins jangling, and Pebbles' head snakes down to eat straight out of Rosie's hand, so long as she minds her fingers. She may earn a brief side-eye as she reaches for him, but he doesn't seem to mind; he has food and attention, so for the moment, all is right with his world.]

[For the moment, Seteth is simply standing by to oversee the introductions, just in case anything should go wrong; Pebbles is very large, after all, with very sharp teeth, and Rosie..... well, she's clearly had far more alcohol than is advisable. Accidents could happen.

Rather than any mishaps involving fangs, however..... Suddenly she's crying, instead? He doesn't smell any blood. She doesn't seem to be hurt. Pebbles doesn't even seem agitated; he rumbles in confusion instead, sniffing uncertainly at her hair. Seteth moves to join her, reaching out to rest a hand on Rosie's shoulder.]

Are you alright? What's the matter?

[She's not what? She doesn't what? How does that relate to not having a home to go back to? What exactly are her circumstances at home? He knows almost nothing of her, to be honest--perhaps he would have learned more if he had lingered for that therapy session? It hadn't seemed to be his place to pry then, and it seems even ruder to do so now.

So he doesn't. Seteth simply winds his arms around Rosie instead as she clings, gently coaxing her to sit in the sand with him so he can hold her. She can take as much time as she needs to explain, once she's steadier and more comfortable.]

I've yet to meet a problem alcohol does anything good for, in truth.

[Seteth can only sigh at that, reaching up to rub Rosie's back reassuringly. Getting drunk never helps. How is it that she had thought it would? Alcohol in excess rarely does anything but amplify emotions, both good and bad alike--ideally, it should be saved for celebrations. If she actually thinks he's going to take this out she's offering, though, then she's sadly mistaken.]

But you don't have to be perfectly accustomed to this place immediately, you realize? It takes time to settle in and adjust to this place, in mind and heart alike. That you're struggling is only to be expected.

.....I see.

[What he sees exactly, he's not sure--but he doesn't need to be. Something dire had happened in her world, that much is clear. Whether it was death, grievous injury, tragic losses, some sort of massive destruction or upheaval..... If she can go home, it would be extremely unpleasant or dangerous. So much so that even living under the Augur's jurisdiction isn't too high a price to pay.]

Even so, that doesn't mean you need to rush things. Making the most of a miserable situation is admirable, but you are still being forced into it.

Perhaps I may not be the best person to offer you advice.

[He sounds faintly rueful at that. Rosie doesn't know how to slow down, and he..... well. Is it patience, fear, or both that holds him back from acting quickly or impulsively these days? Either way, he can't in good faith expect Rosie to change her very nature, let alone immediately. He can encourage her to be gentle with herself, nothing more.]

Regardless, you can try as many times as you need to get it right. You can start by leaving aside the alcohol and getting some rest.

Hopefully so.

[Ask literally any other Fodlanite, Rose, and you'll realize just what an enormous exception you are. Anything he's about to say only finds itself cut off as Rosie goes slack in his arms; Seteth can only let out a voiceless huff, somewhere between a laugh and a sigh. It looks like she needs the rest even more than he'd expected her to, doesn't she? How much had she drank, exactly?]

Now what am I supposed to do with you? I don't even know if you have a roommate to ask.....

[She's not likely to have her address on her person, either. And Byleth will doubtless be suffering from his own overindulgence in the morning; it wouldn't be fair to ask him to handle anyone else's hangover. Nor can he in good conscience just leave he ron the beach like this. In the end, there's really only one option, isn't there?]

Well, you did want to see my apartment..... I suppose it's your lucky day, isn't it? Come along, now.

[Decision made, Seteth wastes no time in scooping Rosie up and rising, nudging Pebbles as he hunts for any remaining scraps of meat that might have fallen into the sand. A few words has the wyvern laying down to be more easily mounted; it's time to get Rosie to bed, even if it's not her own. He has a perfectly good couch to use, after all--and honestly, if he can find the man, it would probably be a good idea to check on Byleth as well. Is he as poorly off as Rosie by now?]

[The bed Rosie wakes in smells distinctly of him, but noone else. It--along with all the other furniture she'll find--is clearly worn and salvaged, with amateur repairs and reinforcements made to ensure everything is sturdy and sound. There are hooks on the walls in easy reach of the bed, where something should clearly be hanging, though they're empty now; on the nightstand, she'll find a glass of water and some aspirin, alongside a covered plate of toast.

Once she starts looking around, she'll find the apartment itself is in a state of perfect repair that doesn't even remotely match the condition of the furniture inside it--tidy to a fault, but with no decoration save for a cute squirrel mug set out on the mantle. Unfortunately for her, there's no chance of sneaking away unnoticed; Seteth is settled on the couch with a steaming mug of tea, projected screen and keyboard shining in front of him as he works.]

Good morning. How did you sleep?

They do say experience is a harsh teacher.

[Seteth can only shrug helplessly at that, set up wobbling a little as he spreads his hands. It really can't be helped, can it? It's possible a talented healer could soothe away a hangover, if they were actually sympathetic enough to try, but--at least amidst the Fodlanites still here--they simply don't have any remaining. And even if they did, would it really be doing Rosie a kindness to simply sweep those regrets under a rug? Painful consequences to ground your mistakes in reality and give them meaning is sometimes necessary to spur change.]

Try to take it easy for now; no doubt you'll need some time to recover.

Most people seem to. Even I can't say I'm entirely innocent of it.

[Isn't that the understatement of the century? Some days, he feels like his life has been nothing but one hard lesson after another. Still, better to learn than remain ignorant, isn't it? Those who don't understand their mistakes are doomed to repeat them.

For a Ye Olde, he's clearly taken to technology rather well. The screen is full of windows; a smaller one above full of snippets of world and character building, one with a rough plot outline and notes, and another where an actual scene is starting to take shape.]

This? Just the seed of a story. I'm still working out if it will actually settle into something suitable for a full tale.
