[Considering the area, and his familiarity with ashkin or other specters, Elidibus takes the fact that this building is haunted in stride. He's seen plenty of ghosts, imagined or real. When he was bodiless, after all, he could have been considered a ghost himself - invisible to all those without the Echo.
Following her to the kitchen, he grins at the reverent way she handles his work.]
When I feel something, I give. It is perhaps the best way I have found to communicate what lies at the heart of myself.
[Music, too, his heart and soul on display while his fingers dance upon the keys. While he composes a new verse.]
To give you but a piece of what we both find important, well. It was worth every effort.
You are worth that much and more.
[He says it, like it's nothing. It is much more than that, but he lets his gift speak for him.]
[ It is reverent. While she's had songs made with her in mind, she's never...
It's never been this direct. This purposeful. ]
A good love language to have, [ she agrees. ] I'm more of an acts of service person, I think. Or, like- Time spent. Someone choosing to spend time with me and vice versa means a lot. Not that this doesn't, of course! Just, y'know, uhm.
[ She's floundering a little, isn't she? ] A-anyway.
I don't know about worth but just know that, like, it's deeply appreciated.
[ She'll gingerly remove the wrapping - she wants to keep it to preserve as best she can - and look at the gift inside. ]
It is one of mine, yes, though I indulge in several of them. Gifts, service, time, touch... all have value. All have meaning.
[He smiles but does not comment on the way her words stumble.]
You are welcome, for it.
[The wrapping comes away to reveal the sheet music with a covered record on top. The vinyl took more effort than the rest, learning how to craft such a thing, then putting it to the test. The jacket has a hand-illustrated rose bush wandering over the front, and the name, Notes of Rose drawn out in calligraphy. The bottom right has Elidibus's sigil, painstakingly detailed into the corner on both front and back.
The sheet music itself is hand-bound, and clearly hand-inked as well. Each line is perfectly straight, the staff and notes uniform. In all corners save the bottom right there are more roses, each page having a different color. The bottom right is reserved for his sigil, clearly used as his signature.]
Though it may be a physical gift, I took the liberty to lay enchantments upon each page, the jacket, and the record itself. They will not bear the wears of time, and neither weather nor grime shall touch them. Indeed, you could hurl the record against steel and it would remain unharmed.
[It came as second nature, to protect the gifts he gives. To protect the hard work and emotion behind them.]
[ That's... a good way of putting it. They all have their value. It also depends on the person. Time tended to be the most important to her after so long of feeling like she was vying for others' time.
And while this is a physical gift, she can already sense the time and care that went into it from the first glance. A small "oh" is all she lets out as she runs her fingers gingerly along it. While she's not afraid of damaging it, after what he explains, she does still seem scared of... something. It's silly, maybe, but part of her is terrified it isn't real. This is all just something she's dreamed up and it will disappear before her eyes in a blink.
No one would ever do such a thing just for her. Would they? She wasn't worth this effort, the time, the care- It stands in the face of everything she came to believe about herself over her lifetime and that others tried to tell her too. She's come a long way from that mentality in Amani, admittedly, but this is still... It feels in the realm of unfathomable. ]
I... [ she starts. Stops. She inhales sharply, damp as an autumn morning, and on the exhale lets out a pained sound. Not pain though, actually. Well, maybe- It's complicated. Pain, perhaps, at what she was always told she could never have - or wasn't worth - right in front of her like it's almost nothing. Like it's just something she deserves because. ]
Sorry, I. Yes. I'd l-love to. Just, uhm. Give. Give me a minute.
Elidibus, for his part, does not stare at Rosie while she processes her emotions, while she takes in his gift. Clearly there was much going on beneath the surface, so instead he politely looks away, looking around at the kitchen instead. Though he is quiet, his presence is not awkward.
He is patient, and happy to wait for her as long as she needs. The sweetness of the song will be all the greater for it.]
[ As long as she needs, he says, but she already feels like this is too much. That she is too much. Her emotions are too big, too oppressive- He doesn't say any of that though, does he? She does. Or, rather-
Charlie used to. Perhaps that's another reason this is so meaningful; her love of music was seen as a 'distraction' to her work with him. Despite his claims of doing what was best for them, she has since realized several times over that it wasn't. It was what was best for him.
But this... This is for her. Just for her. Where, besides here in Amani, was she allowed to have things just for her? And just because. It does take her perhaps not as long as it should to overcome such a wave of emotion but, well... She doesn't want to be a poor host. So: ]
Thanks, uhm. I appreciate it. This. Everything, I guess.
[Not ignorant of her processes, Elidibus is observant enough to realize the general feel of the emotions Rosie works through. They are big, after all, and show themselves easily to one used to picking up far more subtle cues. He continues to respect her, however, refraining from commenting.
Then she speaks, thanking him once more. It is tempting to say it was nothing, to make light of the effort - but no, that was not it. Clearly it meant things to her, and from what he had seen back on Hiromitsu... he knows there was much he did not know of Rosie's history.
So instead, he reaches out a hand and places it on one of hers, comfortingly, smiling warm and soft.]
Of course. Shall we listen? I would see you take in what I have made with you in mind.
[ She appreciates that more than he knows. Despite how obvious her emotions usually are, she's still... coming to grips with being so easily read. Rather, she's learning to allow herself and her feelings to be known instead of dismissing them away or hiding them behind smiles and a carefree attitude. ]
Oh, man, of course- I might. I might cry again, y'know, just... It's a lot! But it's not a bad thing, I swear.
It's the kind of thing I've just always dreamed of, I think. Having songs written with me as the inspiration or just knowing someone was thinking of me. I guess I'll have to think of a new dream to chase now.
[He understands that emotion may be too great to contain. That it may spill over into tears, but then, tears are not always negative. Elidibus himself has cried out of happiness many times, when given a safe place.]
You need not consider this dream over just yet. After all, there are many kinds of music, many genres one may be drawn towards. Perhaps you could dream further?
[He lifts a hand to his chin, thinking.]
But one may chase more than a single dream. Perhaps you could continue this one, and also dream of more?
[But that was neither here nor there right now. Elidibus casts a look around, failing to see anything that could play the music. Not unexpected, considered they are in the kitchen.]
[ No, they aren't always negative. Rosie knows this from experience but... Still! She prefers to avoid crying where she can. ]
Okay, well- You do got me there. I guess the ultimate dream would be a whole Rock album made just for me. [ It's fun to consider if nothing else. ]
But right! Right, yeah, just- Follow me. The record player is in one of the main rooms. [ He just needs to make sure he doesn't take a wrong turn. While her house doesn't keep anyone out unless she wants it to, the ghosts still have a bit of fun turning people around. ]
Then there you have it - keep that dream of your alive, and strive for that album of Rock.
[He is familiar with that music genre, and does enjoy it himself. Such energy is fitting for Rosie.]
I shall be right behind you.
[And he is! He follows dutifully, paying only slight attention to the halls and rooms they pass through, keeping close to Rosie. He does not know her house's layout, or of the haunted nature, but it is polite to stay with one's host as they take you through their house.
It is quite the beautiful house, for all its twists and turns.]
[ While she didn't start living among humans until '88, Rock was still alive and well into the 90s. Japan also had a bit of a musical lag when it came to western influence so, really, she got to enjoy the height of the 80s and 90s music during her time masquerading as a person. ]
Good, since the ghosts like to pull pranks on folks. [ Just casually saying her house is haunted, it's fine. With her leading the way though, it doesn't take long before she's sliding the door into the main living space and where she keeps an assortment of musical instruments and her record player. ]
You sure you'd good with me doing the honors? I know it's for me and all but... Still!
[The presence of spirits does not cause Elidibus to pause. Though, he does hope they refrain from pranking him on this specific occasion. He was here as a guest, after all.]
I do insist that you perform the honors. The gift is yours, for you to do with as you wish.
[He is drawn, however, to the assortment of instruments. Keeping his hands to himself, he still steps close, looking over each one for a few moments and smiling to himself. But he says nothing about them for now, instead turning towards Rosie and her record player.]
Whenever you are ready.
[He knows the tune will fit her personality, and makes sure to give her space to dance.]
