[And by dressed, he means putting on his tack, not a cute costume or silly hat. Alas. Still, the sentiment is sweet?]
no subject
He mentions the wyvern needing to get dressed though and, thankfully, her mind supplies the cutest mental image of what that means. Rationally, she understands it'd just be like putting a saddle on a horse but what if she gets him a cute hat someday oh no. ]
Alright, I'll be... here. Or, like, not too far. With water! [ An indignant sounding huff. But then: ] Oh, hey, right there's a beach- [ Whoops, distracted. ]
no subject
[Surely she's not drunk enough to think that would count, right? Right? Saints preserve him.....
Better to just..... get Pebbles saddled up and ready to go. As long as she doesn't get too far from the location she sent, he should be able to spot her from the air easily enough.]
1/2
Her drunken navel-gazing is interrupted by his arrival. There's a fraction of a second where when she first glances at him her eyes have the sheen of an animal to them but it's gone in a literal blink. Besides, he probably won't have the opportunity to ask about it since- ]
2/2
[ Sorry, Seteth, she's just as loud in person as she was over the bracelet.
The woman practically skips across the sand towards the amazing, majestic creature with galaxies in her eyes. Nothing else matters anymore. Her world doesn't have wyverns, except for in other mythos, and it's wild that she's getting to actually see one. ]
Oh, I- Wait. I'm probably being too loud? I'm sorry, just- [ She does keep a reasonable distance in case she spooked him any and just gives a happy wiggle. ] This is very exciting.
[ Also, y'know, she's very drunk. ]
no subject
He's quite used to loud noises, don't worry. But I imagine he might like a midnight snack.
[You know what's a good way to get animals to like you? Bribes.]
no subject
Does this mean-
It does. As if this all couldn't get any better, it somehow did. She's all starry-eyed still as she takes the smoked meat and wastes no time (unsteadily) beelining towards Pebbles to try to make friends. He's large but she's been around creatures much bigger still so there's no fear, just interest. ]
Hey there, buddy. [ She holds out the the now unwrapped food like a peace offering. Her other hand is partway raised and so ready to pet this beautiful boy. If he'll allow it, that is. Even drunk, she knows better than to push her luck. ]
no subject
Go on, it's fine.
[A good shake that leaves his reins jangling, and Pebbles' head snakes down to eat straight out of Rosie's hand, so long as she minds her fingers. She may earn a brief side-eye as she reaches for him, but he doesn't seem to mind; he has food and attention, so for the moment, all is right with his world.]
no subject
Her emotions are haphazard and powerful because of too much to drink. She remembers what Byleth said about manipulation and her breath catches harshly. Rose practically bullied Seteth into letting her see his wyvern and he still did and he's so nice and she's so awful and she doesn't deserve any of this and-
Her happy bubble bursts and she's the one holding the pin. By the time she realizes she's crying, all she can do is put the arm that was holding that smoked meat up to her face so she can hide her weeping into her sleeve. She's still petting Pebbles though because, look, she has priorities. ]
Sorry, I- [ Her voice quivers and cracks. Nope. Talking isn't going to happen right away. Now she's embarrassed about her crying, too, which just makes it harder to stop and help she's so drunk. ]
no subject
Rather than any mishaps involving fangs, however..... Suddenly she's crying, instead? He doesn't smell any blood. She doesn't seem to be hurt. Pebbles doesn't even seem agitated; he rumbles in confusion instead, sniffing uncertainly at her hair. Seteth moves to join her, reaching out to rest a hand on Rosie's shoulder.]
Are you alright? What's the matter?
no subject
I just- [ Deep breaths. Maybe it's because she's drunk and it was just on her mind that she actually admits honestly part of why she's crying. Also, it's easier than admitting she's crying because he's too kind which some part of her recognizes is really sad, even for her. ] It really started to hit me that I'm stuck here but I don't even have a home to go back to and- I'm not- I don't-
[ Well, she tried to admit it anyway. Crying makes her head hurt and the lightheadedness of drink worse so she's totally going to turn and hug Seteth for stability. That's... absolutely the only reason why. ]
I just don't know what to do.
no subject
So he doesn't. Seteth simply winds his arms around Rosie instead as she clings, gently coaxing her to sit in the sand with him so he can hold her. She can take as much time as she needs to explain, once she's steadier and more comfortable.]
no subject
She takes another few damp, deep breaths to try and get her head on straight. Or, like, as close to it as she can get after far too many shots. ] Ugh, [ she finally mutters after a couple of moments. ] Can't remember the last time I got crying on the floor over getting to pet a cool animal drunk.
[ An attempt to bring some levity. She doesn't look at him, not just yet, but also manages: ] Sorry, you shouldn't... You don't have to actually deal with any of this. I'm just not settling in as well as I thought.
[ A hiccup. ]
And, who could have guessed, getting smashed didn't actually change that.
no subject
[Seteth can only sigh at that, reaching up to rub Rosie's back reassuringly. Getting drunk never helps. How is it that she had thought it would? Alcohol in excess rarely does anything but amplify emotions, both good and bad alike--ideally, it should be saved for celebrations. If she actually thinks he's going to take this out she's offering, though, then she's sadly mistaken.]
But you don't have to be perfectly accustomed to this place immediately, you realize? It takes time to settle in and adjust to this place, in mind and heart alike. That you're struggling is only to be expected.
no subject
Yeah, you'd think after all this time I'd have learned but- [ insert the saddest, most unenthusiastic jazz hands here ] -here I am again.
[ A huff of a laugh mostly at herself. But now it's time to give the context she was trying to before. ] I didn't think I had a choice but to. I'm not... sure what happened back home before I got here, but I don't think I'm. [ It's too hard to speak aloud still. ] It's just, it wouldn't be good if I went back.
I don't think there's anything for me anymore.
no subject
[What he sees exactly, he's not sure--but he doesn't need to be. Something dire had happened in her world, that much is clear. Whether it was death, grievous injury, tragic losses, some sort of massive destruction or upheaval..... If she can go home, it would be extremely unpleasant or dangerous. So much so that even living under the Augur's jurisdiction isn't too high a price to pay.]
Even so, that doesn't mean you need to rush things. Making the most of a miserable situation is admirable, but you are still being forced into it.
no subject
Or, at least, that was what she was convinced when part of her wonders if she just couldn't. ]
Dude, have you met me? I don't know how to not rush things. [ That gets an actual laugh, which is a good sign. But, look, she's just saying, guy she's pounced on twice now. Taking things slow isn't really her style. ] But maybe I can work on it.
Tomorrow. I am too drunk and tired right now. Crying is exhausting.
no subject
[He sounds faintly rueful at that. Rosie doesn't know how to slow down, and he..... well. Is it patience, fear, or both that holds him back from acting quickly or impulsively these days? Either way, he can't in good faith expect Rosie to change her very nature, let alone immediately. He can encourage her to be gentle with herself, nothing more.]
Regardless, you can try as many times as you need to get it right. You can start by leaving aside the alcohol and getting some rest.
no subject
[ After their fitting room fun, she wouldn't take him as the type to hold back but... There's that stupid, dangerous flutter at thinking she was an out of the ordinary case.
Thankfully, she's too tired from all the crying and bouncing around of her emotions in such a short time catching up to her to dwell on it for long. ]
Okay. [ That seems to be it, at first, as she leans against him and sighs. After a moment, she quietly adds: ] Your wyvern is the best, by the way. Thanks for bringing him out and, y'know. Everything else.
[ And with that permission granted to get some rest, she does. Immediately and, unfortunately, before she can tell him where she lives or where Byleth is or that she called Felix out earlier too but- It'll be fine, she's sure. ]
no subject
[Ask literally any other Fodlanite, Rose, and you'll realize just what an enormous exception you are. Anything he's about to say only finds itself cut off as Rosie goes slack in his arms; Seteth can only let out a voiceless huff, somewhere between a laugh and a sigh. It looks like she needs the rest even more than he'd expected her to, doesn't she? How much had she drank, exactly?]
Now what am I supposed to do with you? I don't even know if you have a roommate to ask.....
[She's not likely to have her address on her person, either. And Byleth will doubtless be suffering from his own overindulgence in the morning; it wouldn't be fair to ask him to handle anyone else's hangover. Nor can he in good conscience just leave he ron the beach like this. In the end, there's really only one option, isn't there?]
Well, you did want to see my apartment..... I suppose it's your lucky day, isn't it? Come along, now.
[Decision made, Seteth wastes no time in scooping Rosie up and rising, nudging Pebbles as he hunts for any remaining scraps of meat that might have fallen into the sand. A few words has the wyvern laying down to be more easily mounted; it's time to get Rosie to bed, even if it's not her own. He has a perfectly good couch to use, after all--and honestly, if he can find the man, it would probably be a good idea to check on Byleth as well. Is he as poorly off as Rosie by now?]
no subject
Mmmmm- Wait. This isn't her bed, this isn't anywhere familiar- Her adrenaline spiking at the realization causes her to sit upright with a sharp inhale. The instinct to run is strong but the headache that swiftly follows is stronger. ]
Ow, kami why- [ Her head spins and the woman falls back onto the bed and curls up miserably. Ah. She remembers why now. She is gradually remembering... a lot of embarrassing things from the night before, actually.
When was the last time she was actually hungover? Forty years, she thinks. The eighties. Ugh. After a moment, she tries to sit up again. Slower, this time, and without (as much) panic. The scent is familiar now. Seteth. Ah, right, he... Her face burns from embarrassment.
When she doesn't feel like the floor will fall out from under her, she tentatively begins to walk through the apartment. ]
no subject
Once she starts looking around, she'll find the apartment itself is in a state of perfect repair that doesn't even remotely match the condition of the furniture inside it--tidy to a fault, but with no decoration save for a cute squirrel mug set out on the mantle. Unfortunately for her, there's no chance of sneaking away unnoticed; Seteth is settled on the couch with a steaming mug of tea, projected screen and keyboard shining in front of him as he works.]
Good morning. How did you sleep?
no subject
His apartment is interesting. She likes the character of the worn furniture but the sparsity otherwise detracts from it a little. The neatness isn't surprising though since she doubts most people need to live in mess for stupid, sad reasons.
It was her plan to try and leave undetected. Old habits do die hard. Unfortunately, she only gets as far as the living room before running across Seteth and- Ah. Busted. ]
Morning, [ she answers, a little awkwardly. This isn't usually how this goes and, admittedly, she has no idea how to navigate things from here. Uncharted territories are terrifying. ] Not really that great, but- Kind of my own fault.
no subject
[Seteth can only shrug helplessly at that, set up wobbling a little as he spreads his hands. It really can't be helped, can it? It's possible a talented healer could soothe away a hangover, if they were actually sympathetic enough to try, but--at least amidst the Fodlanites still here--they simply don't have any remaining. And even if they did, would it really be doing Rosie a kindness to simply sweep those regrets under a rug? Painful consequences to ground your mistakes in reality and give them meaning is sometimes necessary to spur change.]
Try to take it easy for now; no doubt you'll need some time to recover.
no subject
The blond steps lightly up towards the back of the couch and leans over it curiously. She tries to keep her distance because, well, she isn't sure what would be appropriate here. If anything? Her head aches again at remembering what Byleth told her, but-
Hm. ]
What are you working on?
